Jesus said, "I will build My church" (Matthew 16:18)
The heartbeat of Crossroads is to know and love Christ so supremely as to represent Him and His values accurately and vividly to the world. Jesus asked His disciples the question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15) Incidentally, this question is surrounded by the context of Jesus establishing His church. Within this passage, we see for the first time the word “church” appear in the Bible, and we believe there is a clear distinction between His establishment of the church and the answer to the question above. Peter answered Jesus’ question, replying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Essentially and significantly, before Jesus installs His church He first establishes His disciples view of Himself. Every church, and in fact every person, is undoubtedly defined by their view of Jesus Christ. And if any church or any individual person would seek to have a deeper, better, fuller knowledge of God– he/she must prayerfully and diligently study the person and work of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures.
The Mission
The mission of Crossroads is the same mission Jesus gave His followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).
The Vision
The vision of Crossroads is to
Love God, Serve People, Impact the World!
It is a twofold vision:
Love God, Serve People, Impact the World!
It is a twofold vision:
- Love God: Loving God is determined by our love and unity for our brethren. Jesus said, "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (Jn 13:35). The extent of our love for our brethren is a reflection of our love for God.
- Serve People: Our love is visibly displayed by our service toward one another and our heart for the lost (Galatians 5:13-14).
- Impact the World: This love, by the empowering of the Holy Spirit, will naturally affect our world for the advancement of God's kingdom and glory! (Matthew 5:16)
